John Thompson is kidnapped by mobsters after quitting his job. Then he is arrested, tried, and sentenced to death for murders they committed. A suspicious detective thinks he is innocent and works to save his life.

Canadians in search of the national identity will not find it fully fleshed in this film. An animated cartoon, it sees Canadians as pragmatists, adaptable to whatever climate or history place in their way. It is a boisterous, bubbling analysis of the Canadian character and, although it may not answer the question of the title, it does leave the feeling that being Canadian is not so exhausting as one might expect.

Fujiwara Hana and Katayama Mizuki have been best friends since elementary school. When Hana’s cheating boyfriend dumps her, the besties take a trip. At a hot spring inn, they meet two guys: Narita Yosuke and Ichinose Ayumu. Early in their conversation, Hana avoids speaking for herself and Yosuke scolds her. Hana responds defensively, but his comment triggers deep reflection. She realizes that she doesn’t speak out because she is too mindful of others. With the recognition of this shortcoming, she begins to change. During this transformation, friendship, jealousy, betrayal, and quarrels percolate amongst them all. Mizuki longs to be loved despite never having dated seriously. Yosuke is despised for speaking too bluntly for the other party’s sake. Ayumu tenuously balances kindness and frivolousness. Then Ayumu’s “younger brother” Kanata joins the chaos. In the jumble, they each begin exploring love and settling into their identities.

The concept of the content series is not based on already known productions, but wants to take the fans into the inner world of the eight-time German champion in a different way. Away from daily events, results, superficial stories or scandals, current players are brought together with other personalities from the BVB cosmos to discuss topics that touch not only the protagonists but also the fans emotionally. Sometimes it is about home, sometimes about uprooting, about pressure, but also about hopes and common values. Through the interaction of the actors, a unique dynamic develops that portrays the club from the inside like never before.

Inspired by the paintings of Marc Chagall, director Efim Gribov interprets the workings of Motl's imagination via comic and grotesque figures, ghosts from the past, and a dreamy, surreal atmosphere. The film's tragi-comic tone and theme involving the American Dream make for an inspired viewing experience.
